I can't believe its another Happy Monday. The year is just flying by. Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was just what I wanted after wrapping up summer classes. On Saturday,Michael and I went across the pond (well in this case the sea) to Block Island, a little Island nested in Rhode Island. This has been on our list of things to do this summer so as soon as both our schedules cleared, we took advantage. We drove about two hours to the port where we boarded a ferry to the Island. The ferry ride from the port to the Island was about an hour. There was an option of a hi-speed 30 minute ferry but we went with the hour long one because we wanted to take in the sea breeze while enjoying the views. I booked our tickets online so we avoided the lines.

Our first stop ones we arrived on the Island was to rent a bike. You can either rent a bike, moped, or a little convertible smart car but we went with the bike which I think was the worse decision. It was a great way to see the Island but personally I didn't think the place was bike friendly. The streets were narrow, there were cars going up and down the streets, and people everywhere crossing the streets. It was an unpleasant ride so after only two hours (we rented them for 4 hours) of riding we returned the bikes, Next time, we will probably walk or rent a little car. I think that will be better.

After dropping off the bikes, we headed to a restaurant called Ballards. I really think it is the best restaurant on the Island based on the few that we saw riding around. It was right on the beach. The atmosphere was fun and airy. The seafood menu was great, took us forever to decide on what to order. Michael got a sea food pasta and I went with fish and chips. We both don't drink alchohol so it is always music to our ears anytime a restaurant offers virgin versions of their drinks. We ordered virgin pina colada and strawberry daiquiri.

The plan after dinner was to get icecream but we were so stuffed we ended up taking a stroll on the beach and dancing a little bit to the live karoake that was taking place right on the beach. It was really the perfect day and a great way to spend a beautiful summer day. We might just do this ones every summer. Visit my instagram to watch a few videos from this getaway.
