Kente Print

Monday, October 15, 2012

Happy Monday!!!! Just another outfit to add some color to this Monday. I made the top out of kente ankara print fabric, and to make it fall appropriate, I added lace. The black lace breaks down the brightness of the kente a bit which makes it right for fall. Kente is a huge part of my culture, its usually worn during special occasions and events. Wore this to an event at my mother;s church. Kente is a bunch of geometric shapes hand woven with different colors of thread. The woven kente is the authentic one but also very difficult to play around with. My top is made of ankara, it is just kente print on fabric not authentic which was easier to work with and allowed me to manipulate it by adding the lace.

Top: I made
Pants: Express (old)
Bag: Aldo (here)
Shoes: Zara (old)

  1. Wow! I'm really liking this look too! I love the flare of the peplum at the waist and the print of the material. Your accessories complemented the look :)
