Apple Picking/Homemade Apple Pie

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

So I'm sure you may or may not have heard of a little visitor we had in the East Coast Earlier this week that goes by the name Sandy. Sandy visited and boy was she fierce. We got hit pretty bad in Massachusetts but nothing compared to the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut). The after math is brutal and I can only imagine what some of these people are going through.

The weekend before Sandy hit, I took my little sister apple picking. At only 15, she is the busiest in the house, living for school at 8am and not coming home at 8pm. She is part of every sport team and school club/organization you can think of, quiet the over achiever. So it is always nice to spend time with her. We first stopped by her favorite Japanese place for food before heading to the orchard where we hitched a hay ride from the parking lot to the apple farm.

My sister's picks. The apples were super huge, crispy and juicy.
And because we picked way more apples than we should have, I decided to bake apple pie.
 Apples peeled
Chopped apples with ingredients: cinnamon, sugar, flour, nutmeg, lemon juice, butter
 Mixture of ingredients
Premade pie crust spread in pie bakeware
Pie crust filled with ingredient apple mixture
Covered and ready for the oven. Baked for about 45 mins.
Tadaa! I had it with chai spice tea I got from twinnie with whipped cream. Yum! Love the holidays.
